10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. | Summit 7

Hands-On Lab | Building a PWA Application

This hands-on lab will provide a comprehensive overview of building Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) with Oracle APEX. We will cover the fundamentals of PWAs and how they can be used to create highly engaging, feature-rich web apps. We will discuss the advantages of using PWAs, such as improved user experience, faster loading times, and the possibility of deeply integrating with the operating system. We will then explore how to create and deploy PWAs using Oracle APEX. This will include a review of the application development process and a demonstration of how to create a PWA using Oracle APEX. We will also go over the various components of a PWA, such as the creation of an icon, file caching, the installability attributes, an engaging persistent authentication setting, and push notifications. At the end of the lab, you will have the knowledge and tools needed to develop and deploy PWAs with Oracle APEX.

Database Engineering & Development

9:00 - 10:30 a.m. | Summit 1

Deep Dive | Tutorial: Intro to Data Modelling

Data modeling is not a forgotten ancient art like cuneiform writing! Even with the influx of non-relational data storage platforms, the need to clearly articulate what you are trying to store to a development team is as important as ever. Even though one JSON or XML document is much simpler to pass around, a group of tables linked together with appropriate foreign keys will tell “the story” significantly better. Obviously, there are cases when semi-structured data forms are preferred, but they are not silver bullets. Relational data models still (and will) play a major role in contemporary information technology.

This tutorial is an aggregation of two decades of experience in building large database-centric solutions from the ground up. In the past 20 years, many data modeling decisions were made – and some of them were better than the others. As a result, there were many lessons learned: what to do, what not to do, and what to do under very specific circumstances, etc. Attend this tutorial to benefit from years of practical experience.

Emerging Technologies

9:00 - 10:30 a.m. | Summit 3

Deep Dive | New Channels to Improve Communication between Citizens and Public Services

Building chatbots usually involves more than just building conversation flows. A city hall in Spain has built a complete platform in Oracle Cloud and extended the built-in functionality offered by Oracle Digital Assistant to satisfy their business requirements while offering their citizens an improved support service that has been continuously growing over the last few years.

Attend this session to learn how the city hall successfully planned and executed a complete citizen support service with Oracle Digital Assistant as the main building block and other OCI services to enhance the solution.

Presenter - aceicon_0002_Layer-1.png Ruben Rodriguez, CGI, Inc.

10:45 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. | Summit 3

Hands-On Lab | Visually Building Chatbots with Oracle Digital Assistant

In this session you will learn what are the most important parts, or terms to be aware of within Oracle Digital Assistant, how to visually implement skills, how to integrate with any external system using its own node.js container, and how to expose them via different channels. I will demonstrate how to create a weather chatbot integrated with a free weather API and expose it via a web widget.
